Stonewall DFL Board of Directors Meeting
May 31st, 2009
Absent: Jerry & Leo
Del called the meeting to order at 1pm
Tim moved to accept agenda as amended (address resignation of board member & move
board election up in the agenda) - passed unanimously
Tim moved to accept minutes as amended (Erick not Tim spoke about bus trip)
- passed unanimously
Dyna read AAO Statement
Matt Entenza spoke
Steve Kelley spoke
John Marty spoke
David announced that Nevada legislature might override their Governor's veto on a Domestic Partnership bill
Del & Mary will be having coffee w/ gubenatorial candidates
Mary brought up that some Stonewall endorsed candidates were still touting
our endorsement after losing official DFL endorsement - we will inform them
to stop
Tom asked everyone to please sign-in
Andy passed out treasurer's report - only change is $100 check to Mpls City
DFL Convention
he said that
Dyna had nothing to report
Matt will attend Stonewall Youth events this year as nat'l delegate for MYDFL
- looking for fundraising help
David announced Duluth passed Domestic Partnership Registry 5-3-1
Jerry Charles Bakka resigned from the board, Vivian moved to accept resgination
(with regret) w/ 2nd - passed unanimously
Cathy Harrison introduced herself & asked to be considered for a position
on the board
Al moved to elect Cathy to the board, suspending rules to elect by acclimation
w/ 2nd - passed unanimously
Angela Amic, Chair of St Cloud State College Democrats who introduced herself & asked
to be considered for a position on the board
Erick moved to elect Angela to the board, suspending rules to elect by acclimation
w/ 2nd - passed unanimously
discussion ensued about outreach to bring more diverse views to the board...Vivian
moved to refer to bylaw committee the intent to
expand stonewalls reach to communities in participation
Mandy gave membership rpt in Michael's absence...working on VANS access issues,
cleaning data, outreach, engagement of existing members,
update membership form, use PayPal to collect dues, standardized sign-in sheet
for Pride, she will get something in writing to Andy from
State Campaign Finance Cmte...she moved that we will include Nat'l Stonewall
Membership in our 2010 dues, 2nd - Tim moved to table, 2nd - carries
she moved to have every member to pay $10 nat'l dues & encourage others
to do so in order to reach (EXACT wording to be added later) - passed unanimously
Al moved to endorse Barb Johnson for Mpls City Council 4th ward, 2nd...she
spoke & took questions - passed unanimously
Al moved to accept A rating of Beth Olson, Duluth City Council at-large, out
lesbian & to endorse her - passed unanimously
David moved to give $100 to Beth - passed unanimously
Al moved to accept B rating of Brad Bourn, mpls park board dist 6, and endorse,
2nd - passed unanimously
Al moved to accept A rating of Natalie Collins for mpls park board dist 2,
2nd - passed unanimously
Al moved to accept A rating for David Wheeler, mpls board estimate & taxation
- passed unanimously
Al moved to accept B rating for DeWayne Townsend, mpls board estimate & taxation
- passed unanimously
Tim moved to endorse DeWayne Townsend, 2nd...fails 6-4-1
Erick moved to endorse David Wheeler, 2nd...fails 6-4-1
reached out to Kevin Reich to see if he wants endorsement, hasnt heard back
yet
not reaching out to Don Samuels since he didnt get A or B
David moved for "no-endorsement" in mpls city council ward 1, 2nd...fails

not reaching out to Tom Goldstein another opportunity to screen, as he declined
in the past
Al keeps A rating toward newly open 2-year board seat
Al left the room
David moved to send letter of support to StPaul School Board to urge them to
appoint Al Oertwig to the board - no 2nd
Tom moved to accept committees recommendation to keep Al's A rating for StPaul
School Board 2-year special term
Al returned to the room
postcards created to urge Sen Klobuchar to stand up against DOMA & Dont
Ask, Dont Tell
Tom moved to approve up to $200 toward these postcards, 2nd...withdrawn to
be considered later in
Al will contact all endorsed candidates to find out how we can help
RoseAnn spoke about how all constituency caucuses will have spot at State Fair
table EVERYDAY of the fair
Matt says that Youth Pride doesnt want anything patisan, but we can still attend
promote Victory Fund endorsement of Jim Llamas to solicit funds for him from
our membership
